Steering Committee Meeting Schedule


Meeting #1 – Monday, September 12th

6:00PM-8:00PM,  TVHS Cafeteria

Summary:

All 101 community members that completed the online application to serve on the steering committee were invited to this first meeting.  A total of 48 community members attended.  Scott Leopold (DeJONG-RICHTER)  presented to the process to the entire group and then took questions an answers for about 15 minutes.

All participants were then divided into four discussion groups based on elementary attendance areas of residence.  The goal of this exercise was was to reduce the number of members to a more manageable size and ensure a balanced representation that aligned with the current distribution of students.    Each group was given a series of guiding questions and was tasked with self selecting the members that would represent each of the areas.

After about 45 minutes of discussion, the final members were announced.  All steering committee members are listed above, including alternates.


Meeting #2 – Monday, October 3rd

6:00PM-8:00PM, Location TVHS Community Room

Summary:

Steering committee members were given a background data packet that went over information about the District. Participants went over the data packet and were given the opportunity to ask for any additional data they felt would be useful in the boundary change process. The committee also made changes to the planning unit map, which will be used when creating boundary options.


Meeting #3 – Monday, October 17th

6:00PM-8:00PM, Location TVHS Community Room

Summary:

The committee was given a revised version of the data packet, with the additional information that they had requested. After a quick presentation, the committee worked on creating boundary options. A total of 14 preliminary options were created.


Meeting #4 – Monday, November 7th

6:00PM-8:00PM, Location TVHS Community Room

Summary:

Steering committee members were given a packet of all the preliminary options that they had created at the previous meeting. Each preliminary option was broken out to see all enrollment and utilization numbers. Steering committee members then decided upon 7 options to bring to the community during the community meetings.


Community Meetings – November 14th & 15th

6:00PM-8:00PM, Location TVHS Cafeteria

Summary:

Two community meetings were held in order for the community to provide feedback on the options that the steering committee created. Those who attended the meeting were given an individual questionnaire to fill out, and then were asked to participate in filling out a questionnaire as a small group at their table. An online survey was made available to those who were unable to attend the community meetings. 527 community members provided feedback on these options.


Meeting #5 – Monday, December 5th

6:00PM-8:00PM, Location TVHS Community Room

Summary:

The committee reviewed the feedback from the community meetings and developed a recommendation. The committee voted to recommend Option 1 to the Board based on the feedback they received from the community.
